Cold remedies are sometimes home-remedies made up from self-made concoctions. They are not always over the counter drugs bought from the drugs. One concoction that is good for the common cold is ginger tea made directly from ginger root. Chicken soup is another great meal to eat when you have the cold or flu. Lemon juice salt and brandy is another remedy for the cold or flu, even though I would not recommend this for children,
Most cold and flu medicines are made of alcohol which cause drowiness, when operating any vehicles these medicines are not recommended. I think a home remedy is more economical and much more effective than the over the counter drugs. Some of those cold and flu medicine, sometimes you may have to complete a bottle before you feel any relief. I usually stick to my home remedies such as Vick Vapor rub, an excellent inhalent that helps you to breathe better during cold or flu.
Also to combat the flu wash your face and hands often drinks plenty of liquids, such as water dark tea and juices. Your surroundings need to be clean and sterilize utensils everytime you use them. This will combat any bateria that may prolong the flu, also this will help prevent others from getting the flu, also get plenty of rest and eat plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits. This will not prevent the flu, but will help you to get well faster.
There are so many cold remedies on the shelves of Pharmarcies, it is very difficult to know which ones work and which doesn't. I think it is much easier when using home-remedies becauses these have been tested time and time again and the recipes has been handed down from our grandparents and these remedies are still very good for cold and flu. I know everyone know at least one good cold and flu remedy that they can try on their own. But contacting your Medical Doctor is first recommended when having any flu-like symptoms, because it may be sometimes more serious than you think, so getting a dotor's opinion is always a good idea.
If you are sure that the symtom you have is actually the flu a good remedy to combat it is some hot tea with lemon or Bayer Aspirins. This is if you are unable to make it to your doctor right away. If you put some lemon into the tea this help combat the cold-flu symptom. If you have a medical history with several other problems first seek your doctors opinion, don't delay to visit. The doctor will make the determination of which treatment is better for you, rather than you making this decision on your own.
