it.

Overall, I am not happy that animals are used in medical research, but it is an unfortunate by-product of the abuse humans put themselves through. Everyday people use products that, at some point or another, were probably tested on animals. With the "green" movement happening, people are reading labels, becoming more aware of what they are buying and what they are putting in and on their bodies. I think it is a great thing. I also think maybe people will become more aware of the products available that do not do testing on animals. If more people buy "cruelty-free" products, perhaps more companies will try to the same guarantee. All you have to do is look for the leaping bunny logo, a symbol of the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics. The coalition urges cosmetic and household product manufacturers to sign on to a "Corporate Standard of Compassion for Animals" policy and agree to not conduct or commission animal testing or use any ingredients or formulations that are or need to be tested on animals.

This doesn't do much for the animals used for medical research but it is a start. Awareness is often the key. Don't go around breaking into laboratories or marching around with signs of decapited bunnies. Start small. Do something that will have an impact, like purchasing "cruelty-free" products whenever you can. Medical advancement has made us who we are today, and we can't live with medicine. Maybe someday it will advance enough that we can do away with animal testing. Until then, check out www.leapingbunny.org for more information on cruelty-free products.
