Shine
The morning after~
I painted you in areola pinks,
hummed a song from my twenty's
as the coffee brewed
and you stirred from blue sheets.
The following weeks~
I caught myself watching mundane minutes
turn their slow circles between
firm inhalings
of madder-ribboned bliss.
And I blew wishes
beyond windows of past experience
for unity unsurpassed...
When chambray bed
would hold grayed spoons awhisper with content.
When we could slow dance in silence
remembering each step
of sepia tune.
The morning after~
I found one arm beneath my head
and the other,
it feathered a crescent moon
across my hip, fingertips close
to touching reds in uplift
as I tasted
forever.
