Ever since the creation of video games the adventure genre has exploded with popular gaming titles such as The Legend of Zelda which was first released on Nintendo's original entertainment system dubbed by gamers as NES. The appeal of these games may be surprising to some, but others seem to be mystified by the success of these games.

Obviously there is an appeal to pretty much every genre of gaming, but what makes adventure gaming so special compared to other styles of gaming? Aside from that, what are the most popular adventure genre video games out there for gamers to enjoy and what can we expect from this genre in the future?

The Characters

Probably one of the biggest appeals of the adventure genre of video games are the characters in the actual games. For example these characters seem to grow before our eyes as we control them. In a typical adventure game the character learns various new skills that he or she must use to defeat the next boss.

In addition to that there are some gamers that seem to identify with the characters in the game. During The Legend of Zelda game, it is possible for players to identify for the main characters need to become a hero and save the lives of the people and creatures around him as he grows stronger.

People tend to learn something from these games at times, because depending on the game they almost ways feature a form of an economy and pretty complex story-lines. These games can teach people how to keep an open mind, and the characters in them can teach life lessons even if it is an adventure genre video game.

The Locations

Another draw of adventure genre video games are the locations featured in them. For example in most adventure games the world seems to be wide open and players must explore them and search for various clues that can be used in the game. The locations of these games are also very important to the overall feel of the game, if a player doesn't like them they likely will not enjoy the game at all.

The Exploration in Final Fantasy games could be considered part of the adventure genre, but as with all adventure games most of them are mixed with other genres of gaming. The Legend of Zelda could be used as an example regarding locations too, because players must control Link and explore some pretty wide open fields filled with creatures.

The Weapons

Typically in every adventure genre game is the weapons and items used by the characters featured in the games. Everything from torches to bows and arrows have been used in adventure genre gaming for years. It's pretty interesting to think about the possibilities of the future in regards to these games.

Conclusion

At the end of the day there are many different appealing features to adventure genre video games. From the characters to the locations they find themselves in, there's almost something for everyone when it comes to these types of video games. If your a gamer and haven't played any adventure genre games, then you better start.
