Today's world often passes us in a whirl, you take care of the kids, turn in that paper for work and before you know it the week is out. It's no wonder so many of us feel stressed by our daily routines. So what can you do on the weekend that will leave you feeling rejuvenated and ready to take on Monday morning? How about a relaxing trip to the spa.
Spas have both mental and physical benefits. Renowned for their stress-lifting effect, many men and women indulge in spas regularly to help take that hurried edge off of life, but spa treatments are also good for your skin. A soothing facial can help moisturize and exfoliate dry, flaky skin and may even help reduce fine lines. A massage can lift your cares away while improving back pain, and these are just a few of the treatments one can expect from a full service spa.
Aromatherapy is being used increasingly in spas to help relax patrons and give them a feeling of wellbeing. Studies have shown that certain scents release chemicals in the brain that create a feeling of being at peace. What is even more surprising is that certain plant extracts when inhaled into the lungs can even help you feel less sick. For example, did you know the scent of eucalyptus can help cure a stuffy nose?
But if aromatherpay isn't your thing, how about trying a body polish. Body polishing is the process of rubbing an exfoliating agent, which can be anything from salt to pecans, mixed with essential oils into your skin. The result is a soft and smooth look and feel, with just the right amount of shine.
But if your aim is more spiritual than physical you might want to try a metaphysical spa treatment, where things like Reiki (an alternative medicine based on the manipulation of the body's natural energies,) astrology readings, shamanic journeys, and even aura readings can be done.
If nothing else, the spa can help you with a fresh new look. Many spas now also include manicurists, hairdressers, and other stylists who can help you transform your look in a beautiful and relaxing environment.
Whether you decide to indulge in a full treatment, or just get your hair done you can always find something to suit your needs. So why not sit back, unwind, and treat yourself to a relaxing trip away from it all at your local spa.
