I have had extreme gray hair since I was in my early twenties. I vowed that I would never color it for the purpose of hiding the gray.If my hair is gray, then my hair is gray. The problem, is that I met this hair stylist, who somehow persuaded me to have some fun and color my hair with highlights to see what it looked like. It looked great and I felt younger and prettier for the most part. The problem is, if I was not able to get a hold of this hair stylist, to redo my hair, once the gray began to show I ended up going and spending money of hair coloring or going to the nearest salon. My hair was colored lighter then my natural hair, so it was far more obvious when my dark brown roots began to show. I was spending far more on hair products and coloring then I did when my hair was its normal color. After the third or fourth time I decided I would color my hair back to its natural color and never color it again.
We color our hair for the most part so people cannot see our so called flaws, such as gray or white hairs. We do this so that we look younger then our real age. I find this preposterous. It is a billion dollar industry.North Americans are surrounded by constant reminders of their age and flaws and ways to change or hide them. I believe there is no problem with looking as you do as a result of the natural aging process. When we color our hair we are telling the world a lie. Telling the world that you are younger then you look. People are obsessed with products promising to make you look more youthful. Some people are obsessed with this and have little else to think or talk about. Save your money and allow your body to go through the natural process that it goes through. Stay gray. Be proud of your gray and let everyone know that you have more important things to attend to. Show people that you are confident without having to lie about your age or the process you have gone through or are going through. Be yourself and stop giving money to the business and companies to help you look better. They do not sell the products to help you. They sell them to make loads of cash and they do it easily. Use the money and time you used to color your grays every four to six weeks and celebrate with the people who love you no matter what your hair color is. Going gray is good and there is no reason to hide it. Confidence in ones self is far more powerful then the act of hiding one's
