Although spas have been around for years they used to be only available to the ailing elite who could afford them. Not any more! The benefits of spa treatments have become both widely recognized and much more affordable making them popular and alluring to everyone everywhere.
As we learned to take a more holistic approach to caring for ourselves, we also realized that spa treatments were beneficial to our health and well-being. Depending on the spa, you can request treatments to assist you with weight loss, relieve chronic fatigue and pain, reduce or eliminate allergies, or anti-aging regiments along with many other services that provide a vast array of numerous other health benefits.
Most spas offer a choice of massage types that alleviate muscle aches and relieve the stress that settle in our bodies after long hours working or playing. Some offer saunas, mineral baths, mud packs and seaweed wraps that will draw out the toxins that build up in our bodies allowing our skin to heal and glow. Other spas serve you organic, nutritious snacks, meals or beverages that help eliminate toxins, promote circulation and aid in digestion and some spas offer yoga, meditation or other classes to add balance to your pampering ritual. Time at a spa not only makes you look good on the outside, it makes you feel great on the inside!
The types of spas along with services offered vary widely. There are small day spas that entice you with offers from an hour to a full day of pampering that may include a massage and steam bath along with a manicure or pedicure to finish the day. There are elegant and enchanting spas that offer hair and scalp treatments, hot stone massages, and cleansing, non-toxic meals where you can rest and relax for one night or an entire week. And there are numerous spas that fall everywhere in-between on a continuum from ordinary to extraordinary.
Spas can be found all over the world and everywhere from the small entrepreneurial shops attached to someone's home down the street, to local salons, hotels and exotic resorts in far away places. Regardless of the location or size of the spa, they all offer a menu of their best services and specialties to restore a feeling of health and wellness to you.
Some spas offer a little retail therapy as well with gift-shop type stores carrying a range of products that entice you to take a piece of your experience home with you. You can choose from creams and lotions, soaps and shampoos, aromatherapy candles and incense, to plush robes and slippers, homeopathic remedies and decadent chocolates.
With overwhelming schedules at work and home toppled with an overall chaotic world, there's nothing more relaxing or rejuvenating than spending time at a spa and forgetting about your troubles for at least a few hours. Restoring balance to your body and mind through spa treatments is one step towards creating balance in your entire life.
