feverishly at his task. Fear swept through me as I was reminded of the movie "Amityville Horror". After an hour or so of work, the gentleman cut off the noisy saw and the bright light.
We began to notice certain patterns. For instance, where was this mans wife? We had seen her only on one occasion. That was when we had the first conversation before they moved in. The children weren't seen often either. In fact, the only person that was seen coming to and from that house was the man. Was this a case such as in "Amityville" where spirits in the house had taken over one family member. Maybe we should check on them. How though? We had only greeted each other through waves as we passed by their home. He was ever the enthusiastic waver. The smile on his face was always bright. He waved as though he was saying "Hello, hello, here I am."
The decision was to not push the issue. It was crazy to think that someone that lived in this neighborhood would ever do such a thing. We brushed it off as just odd behavior. I was holding my breath though. Something just wasn't right.
This man continued working in his yard feverishly. It didn't seem to matter the temperature, he kept on working. We did eventually see a peek of the children, but only once every month or so. My boyfriend noticed the wife leaving for work one day, but she hasn't been seen since.
The neighbor has one other very odd habit. Every weekend he moves furniture out of the garage. He doesn't do anything with it. He simply moves it out of the garage, leaves it sitting on the driveway for hours and then moves it back in during the evening hours. It makes no sense to those of us that see the furniture in the driveway. What on Earth is that man doing anyway? Oh well, maybe he's at least making a good bit of money on his produce stand that he puts at the end of the driveway each day in the summer. Did I mention that it's a very small neighborhood where not much traffic flows?
We have many theories as to why this mans behavior is so odd. None of them make any more sense than his desire to cut down a tree in the middle of the night. As long as we know his wife and children are alright, that's all that matters. The problem is, we rarely see anyone but him. It's okay though, he seems like a very nice man.
