Why do some relationships last longer than others? Well I have come to the conclusion that not only do you need love, honesty, faith, trust, and communication, you also need romance and sexual tension. The reason I came to this conclusion is because I had a relationship in the past that lasted 6 and 1/2 years. It was a great relationship and it is too bad that it ended. The reasons why it was a great relationship were for the following reasons:

Our sex life was awesome. I cannot complain about that at all!

He was very romantic. He always surprised me with new and exciting things everyday.

We were honest with each other and faithful.

Don't get me wrong, we got into our fights but at least we talked about them and solved them. There were times where he wouldn't listen and just walked away. Boy did that ever tick me off, but eventually we talked it over. No relationship is perfect and I found that out first hand with my ex. He was the kind of man who thought he could handle everything and he didn't need the help. I'm sure he knows now that is not a good way of thinking. Even though we are not together anymore, we are best friends. I love that idea that we are not enemies and that we can talk to each other about anything. We both made our mistakes in our past relationship and we have admitted it to each other.

Not to get off the subject but romance was not an issue with him. He would always tell me that he loved me everyday. I always got a kiss from him no matter what mood either of us was in. Sometimes when we got into a fight he would grab right a hold of me and kiss me. When he did that I forgot all about our fight. My favorite romantic thing he did was he would always get me something. For my birthday he got me a vanity, which I have always wanted. He surprised me with it. Then for easter he got me a bunny. The kids were in on that one. He would do these things on holidays, my birthday, and sometimes just because he loved me. I remember a poem he wrote me. When I read it, I cried. It was so sweet and heart felt. I still have that poem. These are some of the reasons why we were together for that period of time.

When it came to our sex life, it was great! He always knew how to make me feel beautiful, wanted, needed, and loved. The way that he touched me still sent chills up and down my body. I knew when he was making love to me by the way he would look at me. Sometimes they don't make love and just have sex, but with him, we were always making love.

On top of it all I knew in my heart and soul that we had a great relationship. I wouldn't change a thing about it. Even though we are not together we both agree that at least we had that. It is better to have loved than to never have loved at all. Just a word of advise: Men- try to keep the romance going and keep your love happy. Women- try to keep your man happy but be honest and open. Both- Don't keep anything back, even if it hurts the one you love. It is better to be honest than sorry. God bless and good luck to you all.
