Internet sites you couldn't live without

designer clothes to old photographs and hard-to-find replacement china. It's a great place to look for unusual gifts.

Some of the other sites I use regularly and often are as follows:

Social Networking

I have taken a long time to get into the social networking sites. I think it's good to have a web presence' so that you can advertise the things you are doing, but I don't use them to keep in contact with my friends like many people do. I prefer to talk to people fact to face.

I have looked at Bebo and My Space, but have found that Facebook does all that I want it to do. It's not the most fancy, not does it have the most features, but it is fine for me. I like the way I can upload and organise all the photos of the art exhibitions I run and put them into folders.

I am also involved in a new site called www.me2everyone.com which has attracted 400,000 members since January and could be one of the next big things in social sites.

Writing

There are lots of writing sites out there, but because I work full time during the school terms, I don't have a lot of time to play with them. Of course, my very favourite writing site is Helium! I also like www.poetrypoems.com which gives people a chance to publish their poems online.

Other writing sites I access regularly are the personal sites of authors I read. These give you so much insight into their lives that it makes the books that much more interesting. These sites also tell you about other works they have produced.

Books

I have several favourite book sites. The one I use most often is Amazon, which I like because I can use it to re-sell the books I have read and to sell my own work. I also like www.play.com for books and www.abebooks.co.uk

Arts

I like to keep up with local arts development, and would put the Arts Council England on my list of favourite sites, along with local sites such as www.locusarts.co.uk and www.artsoutheast.co.uk

I wouldn't like to be without the banking sites, my email, the search engines, eBay or Multimap. They have become such a large and important part of my life now, I don't know how I'd replace them. Far from being the luxury they once were, they have now become as much a necessity as an electric kettle or running hot water. Is that a bad thing? Let's hope not!
