I'm not ashamed to admit that I LOVE the internet! Don't get me wrong, I also love books, but nothing beats the internet for speed, for being up-to-date and for sheer convenience.
I use the internet all the time to look up information, play games, earn money, check out facts and keep in contact with my friends, and of course I have favourite sites that I go back to time and time again.
When I find a site I particularly like, I save it using the Favorites button, where I have organsised them all into folders by subject. Does that sound a little bit mad to you? When you have as many favourites as I do, you need to keep them in order!
The sites I use most regularly are saved by my browser, and I generally just pick them out of the address bar using the drop-down arrow.
The internet sites I couldn't live without cover a wide and varied selection of topics. Here are some of the ones I access most often, and some of the ones I like the best (not necessarily the same thing!)
The first thing I always do when I log on is to check out my email. I have several email accounts, which I use for different things. I have found Yahoo! Mail to be the best for me. I am familiar with the layout, it keeps the spam at bay, and people are familiar with it, so that I don't have to spell it out when I give out the address over the phone.
I also like Yahoo! mail because it links with the other Yahoo! functions such as Groups.
Travel
I don't travel nationally or internationally very often, but I do travel around the local area quite a lot. The two sites I find most helpful are www.theaa.com and www.multimap.com. These are both fabulous for finding directions to places. If I had to choose between them, I'd go for Multimap for the ease of use and many add-on functions.
Search engine
The site I have as my homepage is Google. I like the ease of use and the fact that it is the largest. I have tried MSN, Yahoo!, Alta Vista and Tiscali, just to be fair, but I always come back to good old Google. The biggest and the best!
I love the internet. There is always a site that is perfect for you. When you are looking for a site, don't just stop at the first one you find. Check out the alternatives and see what's out there.
Banking
I do a lot of my banking online nowadays, and would NOT like to be without the connection to my bank, my credit cards and Paypal.
EBay
Good old eBay gets a category of its own! It's great for buying things as well as selling things. I've found loads of bargains on the site, from cut-price
