Don't judge a book by it's cover: growing up, parents tell their children this repeatedly. Adults often don't take their own advice. It is the inside of the book that counts, whether it's a story to make you laugh or one to teach you right from wrong. People don't like to be judged either, typically, but every day all over the world people are being judged. From movie stars to musicians, politicians to television actors, neighbors and school children; everywhere judgement is passed. How many times have you said to your while out to dinner with your spouse, or shopping with a friend, "Look at how FAT that guy is!" Nevermind the fact that he could be the nicest guy in the world, or maybe have a serious medical condition. On the other hand, haven't you also said, or heard someone say, "Man, she is hot!" when an attractive woman walks by? Let's not kid ourselves, these things happen every day. What if that attractive woman was also embezzling money from her job? What if her job was an accountant at a church? And just what if that money was to buy illicit drugs? Would you still think her attractive? If the answer is yes, you are demoralized and ignorant.

I don't mean to offend anyone, but I truly believe that who you are inside constitutes whether or not you are a beautiful person. Many people would agree with me, some only not to sound shallow although they believe otherwise. This is unfortunate. People should not have to hide their true feelings. When he was young and charming, Ted Bundy was an attractive guy. However, he committed unspeakable acts which make him truly evil. How can anyone find beauty in such evil? It is an enigma. Isn't it beautiful when someone becomes an organ donor? To help another human being without gain or reward is true beauty. Someone who fosters children, not always truly bonding with them but at least providing the necessities children need until they find their forever home; that is beauty.

People, Americans specifically, put so much emphasis an outer beauty by the way they hound television and movie stars. It's like a national pastime. Paris Hilton might enjoy the attention, but I would not want paparazzi stalking me at all hours of the day and night. I like my privacy, and I would not want my picture plastered all over magazines. What is so interesting about Paris Hilton anyway. Has she ever in her life done a good deed? She has a lot of money, some of which she probably donates; does that make up for the fact that she drove drunk
