Yes, Hollywood babies get way too much attention. In fact we (media) cannot even wait until a new celebrity gets a bit "preggy" so photographers can begin taking the baby's picture and the child is not even out of the womb yet! We are enthralled with what the celebrity child will look like, what kind of diapers the baby will be put in, what kind of designer clothes that baby will wear and so on.

It is an interesting phenomenon to say the least. When we, non-celebrity people have children we too shower them with an incredible amount of attention and go to the farthest end of the earth to protect, enjoy, and enhance their little lives. So when celebrity children are reported on by other celebrities, or on fast-paced news programs such TMZ for example should we be surprised? No, after all we like to know everything we can about a celebrity and if it is a celebrity that is currently popular that particular baby will get a huge amount of press. For example, take Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise and the birth of baby Suri, everyone was extremely interested in the baby and even what type of labor mom Katie would have. As if any of that is anyone's business! There are places that should be reserved for celebrities and the labor of the star's child would be one of them.

I personally would not want the media outside my delivery room. Private things should remain just that; private! Take the incidence that took place sometime last year or so when Julia Roberts was walking along with her children, the paparazzi were following her as she walked. She asked the camera man very nicely to honor the fact that she wanted to keep her children out of the limelight. The photographer continued to stalk along. As he was walking with, along side of her, Julia turned to him and asked him again very kindly to please not take any pictures while she was with her children. At this point Julia has every right to do what she wants; call the police, turn around and walk the other way, scream at him and grab his camera and run! Julia took the high ground and stood her ground! She turned and walked away and still the photographer walked with her. Julia was very aggravated at this time, and who could blame her! This time she bitched at him, and swore at him and did lerch forward as if to go after him! But her cooler head prevailed. She bounded away the other way and in the end the photographer went the other way.

In that incidence, I felt the photographer was wrong, his need for the pictures of Julia's children was so unecessary after the classy movie star asked him kindly to please not photo them, and the fact that he presed on, insures that he is helping in the creation of the supply and demand mind-set among magazines, trash tabloids, and internet blogs. This creates the fact that somewhere out there this guy will get paid very generously. The celebrity babies do get extra attention, but when the parent star asks them to back off, they should.

If the paparazzi did not create this, I think that the general public will always be curious, but the stars are given a chance that their children could possibly live a somewhat "normal" life.
