If you go grocery shopping you should know what an automated checkout station is. They are terrible replacements for personal service. You have to wait more and listen to customer's complain about the self check outs. Some people don't know how to work them and need assistance, and if you have coupons or bottle tickets you have to wait until the one person that is working the self checkout gets to you. Who knows how long that will take, You could wait 20 minutes just for someone to come to your aide.
Walmart made a big mistake putting the self checkouts in their stores, It would of been nice of them to stand out among the rest and have more personal service. The self checkouts have taken jobs away from the people who need them and so I personally do not support the self checkouts. I will not use them and would rather wait in line for a person to check me out.
Our companies are our own worse enemies, we bring computerized equipment into our facilities thinking that it will make production quicker, easier and more self sufficient. We can't even get full service at a gas station anymore, they use to have guys pump gas into our cars and wash our windows, they got tipped like waitress in restaurants. They now took those jobs away from young teens that were just starting to work. We are the one's to blame why jobs are so hard to come by, not the president or the Governor. It's the companies themselves that cause their doors to close, they want to point fingers at everyone else when they need to take responsibility for investing in something that causes controversy among customer's and takes away jobs that are now so hard to come by.
I feel for the older folks that don't understand all this new technology that is on the rise. They come from a whole different erra and I hear them complain all the time about not getting the personal service they used to get. Walmart used to be more about the people and now it's form over function. They want to look good, but the function of the automated checkout stations aren't worth the money they spent on putting them in.
I don't like Meijer's, or Family Fare's either, they really irritate me and they want to make everything quicker and the customer service suffers. If they took out all the automated checkout stations in every store imagine how many more jobs you would create for the people who are now unemployed and struggling day to day because they lost their job. The unemployment rate in Michigan is at an all time high at 16% and Walmart, Meijer and Family Fare could help by taking those machines out and give those jobs to people who need to feed their families.
Companies may need to re-evaluate the automated checkouts. The less you have the more jobs for people you would create, If you don't have a degree in today's society your breath has no value. You are considered a nobody to people with degree's. I believe you can be trained to a certain degree on certain jobs without going to college and getting a degree. Walmart created jobs for those who didn't have a college degree and made them feel important. Then took jobs away from those when they brought in the automated checkouts.
