A mother, by any other name, would smell as sweet! Throughout our lifetimes, our mothers give us life, care, encouragement, hope, acceptance and time. When Mother's Day comes around each year it would a travesty to go to the local store and grab what ever may have to be on sale. Every wonderful mother deserves a unique Mother's Day gift that only you can give!

The best gift you can give your mother is one she has already given to you, time. Take a day or two and devote it entirely to her. Spend time doing things together that build beautiful memories. It should be filled with what she enjoys. If she is a homebody and doesn't like to go out, work around her house with her, doing things that need to be done. If you loves the movies, find out what's playing and head out the door. You get the idea!

Another fantastic gift you can give takes a little time and coordination. Contact all of your siblings and have them write a page or two of favorite memories that they have shared with your mom. Type them up and have them bound at a local store like Kinko's or Staples. To make it really special, include pictures of days gone by and make it a treasure with a plastic cover to protect the masterpiece that she is sure to love. Buy a box of tissues too because this gift tends to bring happy tears to not only her eyes, but yours too!

Create a DVD of your family. Add music. Create a cover with an appropriate picture and wrap it. After your mom opens the gift, sit with her and watch it. It will bring laughter and conversation to the time you spend with her. Something this personal is hard to beat!

Maybe you would love to do the things above, but due to time, location or abilities, you are unable to do any of the three ideas above. Keep in mind that you want your gift to say, "Mom, I really thought about you before I bought this." Discover what your mother enjoys the most and center your gift around her interests. Has your mother ever wanted to fly in a hot air balloon? Arrange the ride. Would she love to visit the grandchildren? A plane ticket would be a great gift. Arrangements can be made for learning to sail a boat, go on a cruise, visit a day spa, or a plethora of other experiences she would like to have but would never give to herself. These experiences can only be made greater if you join her. There is nothing that can compete with new memories being made with those you love!
