Poetry: Difficult people

With puppy dog eyes, they radiantly picture an image,

day in and day out, I borrow a lion's courage.

-+-
Piercing through my soul yet, so innocently,

to stand before them with devotion and integrity.

-+-

Twittering cockatiels, laughing hyenas

a jungle of confusion battling tales and sagas.

-+-

Difficult people, yet little they may be,

a shush is a ton of patience hidden before me.

-+-

I cry rivers at night, but my heart bathes in delight,

looking at each other, so pure and so right.

-+-

I speak to them in a fairies' tongue,

in their playful ears where ideas wrung.

-+-

Small words with truth and conviction, they understand,

dutiful bees with their determination and obeisance.

-+-

Collections withdraw, glasses shatter, and watercolors forsake,

a monkeys playground is humbled by their wake.

-+-

I teach a class in nursery, this jungle is my classroom,

These difficult people are my gifts, I'm loving them as my own.
