Dinner at a nice, romantic restaurant with delicious food and candlelit table makes a great date for any special occasion. If you are in Columbus OH and looking for a place to take your loved on that one special unforgettable date, the options are endless. Whether you want intimate atmosphere, exotic setting or nice sophisticated ambiance you will find what you are looking for in this capitol city of the Buckeye State.

Here are some of our favorite restaurants for a romantic date in this wonderful city.

1. The Melting Pot

This place tops our list for a romantic evening with nice intimate setting and delicious food. It is not exactly what we call fancy or too classy but it very intimate and without the dress code, it is actually a very simple affair. There nothing more intimate and fun than to feed each other bites of specially prepared delicacies. Variety of breads, veggies, and meats are available with your choice of warm dipping sauces for main menu. While variety of fruits and cakes with either chocolate or cheese sauces kept warm in the fondue pot are perfect to end the amazing meal.

2. Lindey's

This is another one of our favorite for a nice date on special occasion. New York bistro style setting, wonderful American cuisine, and classy dcor with art work and polished brass make this a very sophisticated and classy destination for a date. Situated in the charming historic area of German Village, surrounded by beautiful architecture of historic homes and antique shops along the brick sidewalks, the location alone creates a romantic mood. You can even go for a romantic stroll after the dinner in the beautiful Schiller Park just few blocks away, watching statues, fountains and stars.

3. Handke's Cuisine

Recommended by many of our close friends especially for a date, we booked a table in this restaurant for our anniversary and were pleasantly surprised at the great atmosphere, wonderful service and delicious food. The master Chef Handke is truly a master chef and a wonderful person as he often visits his diners to make sure they are enjoying the food. It is located in a former 19th century brewery with years of interesting history and unique dcor, which creates a mysteriously romantic atmosphere. The wine selection here is equally great as the food. Ask the Maitre d' for his recommended dish and wine that goes with it and I am sure you will not be disappointed.
