Commentary: NY Governor Spitzer and the prostitution scandal

Of course I have to comment on the recent hoopla surrounding the resignation of Emperor, I mean Governor, Eliot Spitzer. To lie, cheat and steal seems to be part of the oath that politicians take when entering public office. Spitzer lied and cheated with the best of them and then took it a step further and became the king of all hypocrites. Spitzer was one of the strongest advocates of prostitution law reform in the country, yet had a penchant for paying for sex. His fall from grace is far harsher than the countless others in public service who have stepped outside the boundaries of their marriage. Somehow, Spitzer found himself to be so above the law that he could feel no guilt in locking up people who took care of the very needs he paid for.

It's apparent that a Harvard degree doesn't buy common sense. Then again, perhaps only his big head has a brain in it, because his smaller one certainly didn't look outside the box. I highly doubt Spitzer will be ordering off the Chinese menu by number anymore. Imagine how much he loved ordering #9, the "Two Delight". Now it's off the menu or better known as "No Delight". Shame on you, big ears. Now the only chance you might get at having something named in your honor is possibly at New York's Carnegie Deli. I imagine they might make a Spitzer Special: A Kosher Hot Dog with Extra Mayo-Plastic Wrapper Optional. Then again, the Carnegie Deli is a wonderful place that might not want to have their food associated with a shamed man.

Prostitution is the world's oldest profession. One ring will be shut down and another more sophisticated organization will start up. Perhaps men in positions of power will think twice before they have a tryst with a hooker...prostitute...escort.. .corporate bull rider. What ever you want to call these man servants, maybe this is a wake up call for these ultra powerful men with small heads. Then again, probably not. Maybe someone will make it easier for them and come up with placing discreet prostitution vending machines in men's bathrooms. They can use their Sleazy Cash debit card instead of wiring funds into an account that will eventually be busted by the Feds.

Eliot Spitzer has stepped down after stripping down. All jokes aside, his job at home is far harder than any public position he has held. Spitzer had to figure out how to explain to his young daughters why he led this double life. I'm sure it's going to go beyond, "Daddy had some extra money and got a little careless..."

Former Governor Spitzer you're damned lucky your wife's maiden name isn't Bobbit.
