The king of birds observes its prey.
Its keen eye missing nothing.
The wild eagle twists it head to seek
competition.
Detecting none, it stretches its monstrous
wings.
His powerful talons uncurl from their perch.
This magnificent bird leaps into the air,
flying free.
He searches for his prey, spots it, and
swoops down to capture the morsel.
The unsuspecting fish continues to
search for its own food.
The eagle seizes the fish, its talons
squeezing.
Its prey squirms to escape, but to no
avail, it weakens.
The eagle's hunt has been successful.

And hold me hostage indefinitely
Encounter
Light and dark at play
across the dappled water
I hear the frost break
underfoot, like glass
Horned and hooved,
