Starting with the basics, you need to access the overall condition of your car.

In classic cars, there is no hassle about television screens that are malfunctioning and compromise the use of your car as a whole, o short-circuits that can prompt you pull over on the road or in the highways.

In fact, classic cars are designed to do what is the sole function f a car: to take you where you want to go.

Having simple mechanics, you just need to look after some parts worn over times and make sure your water level is kept between expectable limits.

So, having this in mind, and f you are still planning on buying one of these cars, the first thing you need to do is to make sure that your future car is safe and reliable.

By buying a classic car, you should be aware that from time to time your car will need to be checked-up, so it is important to know the person that is selling the car you are aiming at is reliable and if you can count on him to assist you in the future.

Unfortunately, whether as selling them as cheap cars, or as gems, there are many dishonest sellers out there you look for nothing else but profit. From my experience, I would suggest that you look for an old-school mechanic who shares with you a passion for a certain brand, or classic cars in general.

Now, for those who already have a car and are looking to get the most out of it, there are a few items you need to look at before you get your car on the road.

The following are the main concerns you should have with your classic car:

PAINT JOB

Inspect your car thoroughly for rusty areas or even rough areas that may indicate past problems with rust.

Have in mind that some classic cars such as Toyotas or the Renault 4L have in the car body their weakest spot, thus the need to keep it in the best shape possible.

Ideally, ain these cases, a full body paint would be advised, even knowing it may be quite expensive.

STARTING ENGINE

Being a component with big longevity, it is possible that it wears out at anytime soon if this is still the original one. Be sure to gather some money on a new one.

CLUTCH

Such as the starting engine, it is also a durable part that may leave you sidelined from the road at anytime. BE sure to replace it as well!

BRAKES

Definitely a component you need to monitor very closely. Brakes are probably the greatest security issue on a classic car, should they be faulty.

A fast your to access the quality of your brakes is to press the brake pedal. The lower the resistance to pressure mad by your foot, the closest the brakes will be from giving in.

Be sure to have your mechanic inspecting your brakes on a regular basis!

RADIATOR AND ASSOCIATED COMPONENTS

Probably the biggest concern in a classic. Truth is that if you do not get your car working on a daily basis and check your water level, your are significantly increasing the chances of your car overheating.

Be sure to have a thorough inspection to check for punctures on your radiator and fort possible problems on the surrounding components
