As a home of the OSU and the Blue Jackets (Ice Hockey team) the capitol city of Ohio, Columbus OH is always buzzing with plenty of activities. This fast growing metropolis is one of the biggest cities in central Ohio region. When we moved to Columbus almost six years back, we had no idea how this place is or whether or not we will like it. But believe me after this long stay with my family we all have fallen in love with this wonderful city.
There is so much to do here for everyone, we never have to search for activities, we just choose from plethora of options depending upon our mood, budget and weather. Here is our personal favorite list of top 10 things to do in Columbus OH with family.
1. Columbus Zoo and Aquarium
This is perhaps the best attraction in Columbus OH. Jack Hanna, the famous wild life expert with tons of programs on TV, was director of this zoo for many years. He has developed this zoo into a world famous wild life preserve and a home to over 6000 animals from all around the world. The recent addition of the Jungle Jack's landing; a miniature amusement park has made the zoo a one stop shop for animal lovers and adventure seekers alike. Along with watching over 70 species of animals in their natural habitat visitors can ride on variety of roller coasters, boats, carousal and Pony's for more wild fun. Overall Columbus Zoo is the best family destination that gives you the best bang for your buck.
2. Zoombezi Bay Waterpark
Another newest addition to Columbus attractions opened in 2008. Situated in northwest area just beside the Zoo this water park offers variety of water slides and wave pool that everyone is sure to enjoy. You can get tube surfing lessons on the wave pool or try a wild ride on the action river. The little ones can splash around in the kiddie play pool while you sun bathe and relax in the surrounding Cabaa's. If you get tired going down the slides relax while you float down the lazy river on a tube, or just sit and play in the water by the wave pool. You can purchase a season pass or a Golden pass which includes admission to Zoo for a real bargain and id definitely worth the money if you live around the central Ohio.
3. COSI (Center of Science and Industry)
The COSI is another favorite destination for families around Columbus to spend some quality time with kids. The kids don't even notice the amount of stuff they have learned while playing with variety of things. There are tons of live shows that our kids love, like the Weather
