It doesn't have to cost a bundle or hours at the salon to rejuvenate a look. Any woman can reinvent or update her appearance by following this simple self-assessment of head to toe.
Ask yourself the following questions and answer them as honestly and accurately as possible (remember, this is you trying to help yourself).
1. How long have I had my hairstyle and does it reflect a current, age-appropriate appearance?
2. Do I stick to the same shades of makeup and apply them the same way, every season, every day?
3. What is my skin type and condition? Do I pay attention to this - face & body?
4. How do I feel about jewelry and accessories? Am I stuck wearing the same earrings or belt day after day because they "go with everything?
5. What do I consider to be "my style" of dress - trendy, conservative, variable? How often do I update my wardrobe?
6. Do I dress age-appropriate and follow norms of dress for work, play, and formal gatherings?
7. Do I try to coordinate my clothes to match my shoes and accessories, and vice-versa?
Regardless if you've answered "yes", "no", or "I don't know", to these questions - rethink your responses. The purpose of this exercise is to clean the slate of your outward appearance and get a fresh perspective!

Makeup; so many brands, so many shades, too many choices. Don't be afraid to experiment at the department store beauty counters. You may surprise yourself with a lipstick shade you never considered. Some stores may offer a free makeup consultation or color charts based on skin tone, eye, and lip color.
Skin type and condition also weighs heavily when assessing your beauty needs. Take care of your face and your body.
If you have dry skin, moisturize day and night - before applying makeup and after removal. If your skin is oily, ensure you wash frequently, use astringents (witch hazel), and avoid oil-based moisturizers and makeup.
Wardrobe style and accessories. This is perhaps the most daunting task of all.
Don't make new purchases without assessing what you already own, how it looks on you, and if the style is not outdated. Fear
