How to reinvent your look

Is your look tired? Have you decided to reinvent it to better reflect who you are, or who you are becoming? We all know changing who we are on the inside takes a tremendous amount of work and dedication, but our outward appearance can undergo a radical change in a matter of hours.

Whether subtle or radical is your goal, here are a few suggestions to take you from feeling outdated or understated to feeling fresh and bold.

Hair style and color is the biggest step to reinvention. Consult with a professional that will be able to suggest the right style for you based on the shape of your face, not the latest trend. And, look at several color options that will complement your skin tone and lifestyle. For example, if you spend a lot of time in the sun, then going with a solid dark color is probably not the best idea. A richer color closer to your natural shade with a lighter weave would be a better option. Maintain the style and color based on the advice of your stylist. Healthy maintained hair makes a big impact on your appearance.

The next course of action is your makeup. A lot can be learned from beauty websites and magazines on the how tos of proper color and application which is age and skin appropriate. Follow their advice. They know what they're talking about. But if you're in doubt, consult a professional.

Your wardrobe will likely need and overhaul. Remember the story of Cinderella? The biggest part of her transformation was when the fairy godmother transformed her rags into a beautiful ball gown. Think of your wardrobe as a costume. Determine what character you'd like to be and dress yourself up. This doesn't require that you go out and spend a ton of money unless you want to. You may have items that can be recycled and paired with new things. Stay away from colors that have a negative affect on your look and mood and avoid items that are not age appropriate. Consider your body type and play up your assets while steering clear of accentuating what you consider negative. Visit outlet stores, consignment shops, and clearance racks for bargains. Make sure your hair and makeup are done; this will give you an accurate perspective of your new look. You may want to bring a friend with you for a second opinion.

Don't forget to accessorize with jewelry, purses and shoes. This is where trendy can ad a bit of eclectic chic. Accessories can be an inexpensive and fun way to polish the reinvented you.

Your teeth and hands are two little details that can have a big impact. Whitening your teeth can improve your appearance and help to promote a fresh look. This is based on the standard by which our society operates, but it is a reality. Keeping your hands moisturized and your nails manicured promotes a fresh look as well. Avoid the glamour nails of early acrylic days. A natural look is best.

The truth is, throughout the course of life we change, so why should we always look the same on the outside? Reinventing your look is a fun process of stating who you are to yourself and those around you.
