As a Christian, many times we think about our actions towards God to make sure we are doing the right thing. The verse Proverbs 6:16-19 tells us seven things that God hates about our actions. It states that, "There are six things the Lord hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers."
There are many other thing that God hates, and next states one of them.
Proverbs 16:11, "A just weight and balance are the LORD'S: all the weights of the bag are his work."
Proverbs 20:23, "Divers weights are an abomination unto the LORD; and a false balance is not good."
Proverbs 11:1, "A false balance is abomination to the LORD: but a just weight is his delight."
These three verses are all taking about the weight and the balance we used in our daily life. Sometimes someone can earn much more money by using a fake balance. God wants to tell us that we need to honest with our jobs. God doesn't like us to cheat on our customers and other business men. He wants us to live honestly.
Usually, our parents tell us to not lie because it is bad for you. But also, I think, it is because Proverbs 12:22 says, "The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful." The verse tells us that God hates when we lie and loves when we tell the truth. One time, when one man lied to someone, he had to continue to lie to recover the lies he had made. At the end, that person had made so many lies that even he didn't know which one was true. So lying is one of the actions that God hates.
The verses below are some which state some other things that God hates and loves.
What God hates vs. What God loves
For the froward is abomination to the Lord; but his secret is with the righteous (3:32).
They that are of a froward heart are abomination to the Lord, but such as are upright in their way are his delight (11:20).
The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord, but the prayer of the upright is his delight (15:8).
The way of the wicked is an abomination unto the Lord, but he loves him that follows after righteousness (15:9).
The thoughts of the wicked are an abomination to the Lord, but the words of the pure are pleasant words (15:26).
Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand joins in hand, he shall not be unpunished (16:5).
Divers weights, and divers measures, both of them are alike abomination to the LORD (20:10).
He that turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer shall be abomination (28:9).
Proverbs 21:27 states, "The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he brought it with a wicked mind?"
I think wicked gives deceitful worship to God. But anything towards God must be pure because He is pure. When we worship, we need to worship with our whole heart. When we pray, we need to truly be honest towards Him. We need to give back everything we can to God because Romans 3:23-24 says, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." Our actions must be favorable to God and we must avoid anything that God hates.
