Poetry: Anything is possible

by Bridget Webber

Anything is possible said the starfish to the gull

listen carefully as I provide new thoughts on which to mull.

The sands of time are limitless, the stratosphere a dome

beyond which stargazers sit and new universes roam.

The atmosphere is built of atoms which spark and fly,

ensuring life continues, and that we never die.

As we watch the waves come crashing to the shore of gold

reflected light from their glaze, shields us from getting old

by sending back vibrations of transmuted flotsam

gleaned from the brains of whoever's got some.

It is a fine tale that you tell said the gull in return

lifting his Webb's as the hot sand began to burn

but to my knowledge gleaned from distant places,

it seems to me that your theory has spaces,

where science fails to meet the racing tide.

If the truth be known the reason for possibilities reproduction

can be found by the simple introduction

of the facts as I see them from my lofty flight.

The sun shines on the people, animals and flowers,

on the birds and insects and then comes rain showers.

Armed with our gifts of joy and wonder at what life's path can bring

we have the choice to follow a dream to make our hearts sing.

Well thats true too, said the starfish beginning to wilt,

choice and ambition are the foundations on which this world is built.

Our futures lay before us offering more than we'll ever know,

but it's up to us to grasp whats there and to forever grow.
