As parents, we are obligated to make the proper decisions regarding our babies. Unfortunately, the fine line that separates what is appropriate in our society is not always clear. However, the prospect of bringing a baby to the movie theater is easily justified and can be argued, even against the most stubborn individuals. So, the answer is yes, responsible and mature parents should be able to bring their baby to the movie theater.

First off, why should parents be forced to miss out on the niceties offered by our lifestyle today? Any knowledgeable person knows that child care is not available during all hours of the day, especially when parents are most likely going to have time attend a movie. However, too many people do not understand the validity of that very statement. Can't you ask someone to watch over your daughter? Can't you just wait till the movie comes out of DVD? Seriously, unless you have had personal experiences in dealing with these situations, you will never truly understand how frustrating it can be to try and enjoy a movie with your family. If I was to yield to the conventional wisdom proposed by these naysayers, I would be forced to exclude myself from conversations with my friends. I will not be able to socialize with the fine folks attending church on Sunday. Why? Because I would still be waiting on the latest blockbuster from Hollywood to come out on DVD. I can already see the scenario playing out. A good friend, co-worker, family member, etc. will casually ask "Have you seen the latest great movie at the box office?" No, I have not, because there are people out there who do not believe I should bring my daughter to the movie theater.

Fortunately for myself, I have not let the negative comments from those shallow individuals disrupt my on goings. Having continued to watch movies immediately following the birth of my daughter, I have grown accustomed to accommodating her needs and the rights of the other movie goers around me. By planning ahead, I aim to catch the matinees or early evening showings. There are usually less people during these times, which allows for more seating choices and less traffic. If not, I am always courteous by bringing my daughter out of the theater if she begins to cry or needs to be taken care of. Sure I am going to miss a couple of scenes, but this is a small sacrifice to make for my family and the others around me.
