Service warning: Brakes are making noise

It is designed into the system for your brakes to make noise when the brake pads get thin enough to the "wear indicator" to start scraping the rotor. Now doesn't that like something important? If the engineer designed something to make noise when it becomes worn it just makes sense to have them checked when you hear a noise.
If you chose to ignore this squeal or chirpping noise what happens? the wear indicator continues to scrape against the rotor and wears a groove in it.....bad idea. Brake pads cost between 20 and 60 dollars on average while rotors can cost well over a 100
dollars. Now besides the fact that ignoring the noise might cost alot more money in the long run it also get into an unsafe condition.
All goes back to why that engineer designed brakes that would alert you when they reached a point when they should be replaced.
Anytime you hear a noise, other than that too loud sound system you are so eager to share with the rest of us......it is usually and indication that something is amiss
and you should have an expert check it.
