Vacations should be about FUN and RELAXATION! Tight schedules shouldn't come into play on vacations. There is never enough time to do all the things you want to do, especially when visiting a theme park! The "travel" part of vacations - getting to the airport, driving down, shuttles to car rentals ARE NOT FUN OR RELAXING! Why continue the stressful part of traveling WHILE YOUR ON VACATION? On-site hotels at theme parks are the ONLY WAY TO GO.
The BEST on-site hotels in theme parks are Boardwalk and Yacht and Beach Clubs in Disneyworld. You are walking distance or a pleasant boat ride away from 2 of the parks! Epcot and Hollywood Studios. You can even rent a boat and stroll down to see the ending fireworks extravaganza every night at Epcot.
For families with older children, you can be sitting at the beach (cute man-made beach area at the Beach Club) and be in walkie-talkie contact with your children. You can go to the parks several times a day, at the times you want to go, without sacrificing THE WHOLE DAY to one park! With a family, not everyone wants to do or see the same things at the same time! If grandma gets tired, she can easily get back to the room and meet up with everyone again for dinner AT THE THEME PARK!
Your American Idol can go audition, in the morning. The whole family can go back and watch the show, when they are in the FINALS! If you weren't on site this could be a nightmare. The drive INTO the park can take a REALLY LONG TIME, plus it would take up the precious vacation time of everyone.
Boardwalk (walking distance or boat ride from Yacht and Beach Clubs) also has nice venues for everyone - dueling pianos (a must), ESPN Zone (all men's favorite) a bakery, great restaurants and bicycles built for 4 or more! Great location for the "meeting place".
Visit the world in World Showcase! Walk to Japan for sushi and shopping in the afternoon. Sit in a park in England with the best fish and chips, and watch the Beatles perform! Go back to the hotel and get ready for dinner and the best laser light show fireworks anywhere! Make your reservations in Mexico or France for dinner and to watch the show. Most importantly, don't forget to pick up your pastries and latte in France for the walk back to your hotel. OR, you may have to go back to watch those AMERICAN IDOLS FINALS! No worries, you are close to it all!
AHHHHH, I am having fun and relaxing just thinking about it. You will, too!
