Why men don't wear skirts

The reason why men don't wear skirts is simple: men are not aware that they can be beautiful - in fact, more beautiful than women.

We often talk of women's ''beauty'', but never realise that a large portion of this is, in fact, in the clothing they wear.

I think men ought to begin to refuse to referred to as ''handsome''. We are beautiful, and we can make ourselves more beautiful by dressing in beautiful clothes amde of fine, quality material.

Related to this is the point, made by one of the contributors, that women are very protective of ''their turf'' and would rather have a man compliment them for their ''beauty'' than focus on his own looks. In other words, they are insecure about competition.

The fear, perhaps, is that, once a man starts to see his own beauty, he might not see that of his girlfriend or wife. Or that once men start to look beautiful, they may get attracted to each other at the expense of women.

I have never seen any connection between skirts and sexual orientation.

Some writers have said that men's legs are not attractive and would need to be shaved. The irony is that it is us men who have said women's legs are beautiful, and now some of us are being made to pay the price for doing so.

Men have put themselves in a position where it is normal for them to notice and admire women's physical attributes while the women do not do the same.

But men also want to be admired. I would be very happy to see a woman touch the frills of a man's skirt and say: ''Oh babe, you are looking so beautiful!''

The shops are also to blame. Why put skirts in the ''ladies section'', for instance? Most men feel embarrassed to go and buy clothing that has already arbitrarily been classified as feminine.

According to some men I have spoken to, skirts feel more comfortable than trousers and have an enjoyable, tickling sensation when one is walking. I am told men skirt wearers also enjoy refreshing air that wafts through their legs as they move.

Some have said making love to their wives or girlfriends while they (the men) are dressed in frilly skirts is a most fulfilling experience.

My view is that, just like women did with trousers, men must fight against the prejudiced view that they cannot wear skirts, dresses or panties. And the material must not be changed to be more ''masculine''.
Men and women are all one people and all of them must have the freedom to wear what they want.
