It was a hot morning of August when I first left home
Goodbye, land of my youth, my future I welcome
My parents were leading the way to the capital
Away from the city which to me was natal
Out West was my destiny!
I turned twenty years old on the road
Alone I felt, as a pariah, a toad
I lost my way several times during the trip
I was thankful to receive a few tips
Out West was my destiny!
A new language was to become my own
As French was the one I to which I had grown
English was tricky as it was new to me
But I had the passion to learn it as soon as can be
Out West was my destiny!
An endless landscape of green hills and blue lakes
Filled my eyes with their beauty despite the time it takes
The ribbon of the road, its forests and wilderness
Kept my undivided attention to avoid distress
Out West was my destiny!
As I finally reached the prairies on the third day
I felt some satisfaction for making it all the way
I had joined words and actions in order to achieve my dream
As the sun set, I felt that land and I made a great team
Out West was my destiny!
As time went by, I fell in love with the land and its people
Gone were the days where nothing was relaxed and simple
The beauty of the fields and the long summer nights
The masterpiece offered by the amazing Northern lights
Out West was my destiny!
An education I found there at first
A career that finally quenched my thirst
Years later, I met my husband, only the best
Two children later, I was happy out West
Out West was my destiny!
