Poetry: A gentle touch

by Kevin Noonan

Created on: April 12, 2009

"Nativity"

This moment

when God first felt

tender, love-lined arms embracing

his skin-lined divinity.

And he is unaware

of his vulnerability, of his complete need

for a mother's strong cradle and full breast

and overwhelmed love;

and he is finally and fully aware

of his vulnerability, of his complete need,

and of these first sensations of love coursing

through tiny infant body to infinite being;

this moment,

when God first understood why

he loved,

because he first felt love

in this moment.
