Ponder Puddles
A dim sky and a darkened room,
The rain stops drizzling down.
From childhood delight to adult gloom;
The puddles on the ground.
I look out the window across an asphalt land;
Every indentation holds a puddle for a mirror.
Multiple reflections showing adult life so bland;
Lost, the child's highs and lows, bliss and terror.
Gone are the days when all was new,
Exploring the world, emotions and friends.
Globalization has made novelties few;
Pain says all things must come to bad ends.
Puddles reflect the light of day,
Puddles reflect the deep of mind.
Do they still bring you thoughts of play?
Or is it depression that now you find?
