Poetry: Being overwhelmed

by Perry McCarney

Created on: April 11, 2009   Last Updated: April 14, 2011

Zeroed.

The dark wave rolls slowly over me,
Plummeting me way and far too deep.
My eyes shut tight, I see mosaic
But the wave is so strong, still they weep.

I tire so, beyond exhaustion,
As though it's never otherwise.
An endless cycle of defeat
Leading only to my demise.

Things small and large do burden
'Til a mountain weighs me down.
The nurse gives me medicine,
I refuse despite his frown.

The meds make me not me,
Makes it so I don't care.
I can't take that as right,
It's no good, it's not fair.

I don't want this life,
There's no quality.
Do the staff here care
Or just want the fee?

Not me's no good!
Why be here then?
Shall leave this place,
This world of men.

Good turns bad,
Life's not fair.
Always find
Joy so rare.

Cruel world.
Bad rep.
Roof top.
Last step.

Drop
Down,
Crush
Crown.
