Most unique festival events in the United States, festivals, carnivals

Rednecks, twins, road kill, bourbon and moon pies! What could they possibly all have in common? Festivals, each one highlights some of the most unusual festivals or events that can be found in the United States.

The Redneck Summer Games is held in East Dublin, Georgia. It first began as a joke when the local radio station Y-96 decided to put on the Redneck Summer Games. When we visited this festival we were expecting something off the beaten track. From the mud pit belly flop contest to bobbing for pig's feet we definitely got our "redneck" money's worth.

The end of June in Bell Buckle, Tennessee means it's time for the RC and Moon Pie Festival. That's right if you are a fan of these southern treats this is the festival for you. Visiting this festival was a highlight for us last year as we looked at the crafts in over 50 different booths and sampled southern delicacies. My favorite was the deep fried moon pie!

The Kentucky Bourbon Festival is held every September in Bardstown, Kentucky. There are not too many festivals out there where you can sample different kinds of bourbon right on the street! I enjoyed sampling the food from regional restaurants. You can tour Bardstown's historic homes or just walk the streets and see what you can find at the arts and crafts booths. This five day festival is a treat for bourbon enthusiasts and festival goers alike.

Marlington, West Virginia's annual Autumn Harvest Festival just wouldn't be the same without the Road Kill Cook Off! If you are looking for some unusual food you have come to the right place. You can find deer sausage and pseudo opossum shanks, just to name a few of the delicacies. Wander around while the cooking is taking place and you'll find homemade items from Appalachia that you can't get anywhere else.

Twinsburg, Ohio is taken over once a years by twins, triplets and any other multiple you can think of. The annual Twins Day Festival is marked with activities for the public and for registered twins and multiples. This festival will definitely have you seeing double!

Throughout the country there are unusual and different festivals every year. Finding the right one for your sense of fun and humor is the fun part. There is something out there for every style and taste from bourbon to moon pies.
