I was a fan of eighties metal. Much to the dismay of my younger brother who was a rap addict from birth, bands like Poison, Kiss, Warrent, Metallica, and Van Halen made the music that I identified with while growing up. The sweet guitar solos, the driving rhythm of the bass, and the pounding beat of fast drums are something that, to me, can not be equaled by today's rock. I had the pleasure of seeing Kiss for the first time a couple of years ago. The stage effects and pyro were exhilarating, while Poison's intro was like listening to a medley of my teenage years put into 45 minutes. The highlight of the concert in the outside dome was seeing Paul Stanley's flying over the audience, and to witness Gene Simmons become the bloody God of Rock, complete with the signature ax guitar was amazing. I still put CD's on and sing along to all the metal greats, along with a couple of the newer classics, but no matter what else I listen to or what comes out, my heart will always be with those bands I grew up with, and thanks to fans like me, eighties metal will never die!
