Uterus didelphys characterizes a uterine distortion where the uterus is existent as two organs as the embryo genetic merging of the mullerian ducts faltered to transpire. As a result, there are two uteri with two distinct cervices and often two vaginas' as well.
Each uterus has a single horn connected to the fallopian tube that faces its ovary.
The uterus is created during embryo genesis by the combination of two mullerian ducts. This progression usually connects the two mullerian ducts into one uterine body but falters to take place in these women who manage their double mullerian systems. A didelphic uterus will have two cervixes and is most commonly linked with two vaginas. The causes for this failure to merge are not known. Connected deficiencies may affect the vagina, the renal structure, and less known, the skeleton.
The Illness is less known than these other uterine distortions, they are septet uterus, bi corn ate uterus, and actuate uterus. Approximately 1 out of 3,000 women are affected by one of these afflictions.
Females who suffer with this illness may asymptomatic and not aware of having two uteri. they usually don't realize that they have a problem until they attempt to give birth properly. It will show itself during pregnancy and the birthing process. This is most likely the case.
To diagnose this illness a pelvic examination is done. This examination will reveal whether or not there is a problem. It will show if the woman has a double uterus and a double vagina. What bring a woman into the doctor's office are problems with the uterus and problems reproducing. An MRI, hysteroscopy, sono hysterography, transvaginal ultrasound are test given.
The best way to manage this condition is to get it diagnosed as soon as possible. The earlier it is discovered the better off the woman will be. There are options she can consider that were mentioned above. Besides if this is a present problem and not treated, studies have shown that a woman has a higher chance of having a breech birth or birthing a child that is premature. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:off ice:office" />
