Tired and hurt by their deceiving
I had given up believing
in a Mister Right for me
I faced a lonely destiny
But then you opened up my mind
you were more genuine and kind
we seemed to get along so well
and without warning, in I fell
We've been together for a while
and though you always make me smile
I now feel you're deceiving too
at times your words just don't ring true
Am I imagining it all
as I lay scared behind this wall?
Are ghosts of old still haunting me
creating untold misery?
Past loves have left me less than whole
a skeptical and timid soul
unable to escape the wrath
of memories that block my path
I do want to believe in us
and I know I sometimes make a fuss
of little unimportant things
and of the pain and grief it brings
My hope is that you'll understand
and take me gently by the hand
to reaffirm and reassure
I need not worry any more
Lost and confused as I may be
I'm asking, please don't give up on me
