Poetry: Letting go

by Mark Brazel

Created on: April 11, 2009   Last Updated: April 13, 2009

I sat there motionless, eyes fixed in an endless trance

Is this real, is it really true, or a dream by chance

How will I go on, my body and soul completely drained

I feel my chest rising to exhale sighs of pain

My tears flow like a river, as they trickle down my face

My world just swept from under me, to a somber, solemn place

I try to remember what I should have said, the things I didn't do

Reaching for forgiveness, last words, from me to you

I'm searching for some solace, some peace, without you here

The memories are lavish, and it's letting go I fear

Then suddenly I hear you, and I see your gleaming face

You take me back to jubilation, filling up the empty space

Your words come strongly spoken, don't cry for me you say

For I'm shining down upon you, in an incandescent way

Your holding dearest memories, locked away within your heart

Share them, live them, dream them, and we will never be apart

To mom and dad
