Poetry: Locked out your heart

by Robyn Hadley

Created on: April 11, 2009   Last Updated: March 27, 2012

Our words they tore our love apart
Word for word these words they tore at our hearts
Like the ripping of flesh, they ripped at our will
When the final blow came, it was poised to kill

When our claws were retracted the realisation came
That we had fought to the death and not just to maim
Our relationship over, I was locked out your heart
I never thought a silly argument would ever tear us apart

You hardened your heart used a lock and a key
You shut me out, refused to acknowledge me
Your harsh rejection it hurt, I was reminded again
That we were never sisters and now not even friends

Blood is thicker than water, people say this is true
But this I believe applies to the fortunate few
Time has created a wedge that just won't go away
And it seems to have left us with nothing to say

We may never recover from this fatal blow
But I wanted to tell you that I still love you so.
