Poetry: A gentle touch

by Robyn Hadley

Created on: April 11, 2009

Sometimes when I get it wrong, could you pretend not to see

Especially when I'm feeling crap, please don't talk down to me

I know I don't always get it right but my intention is always good

And when you've asked me to do my best, I've done the best I could

Some days you seem to pick a fight, just because you can

Please try to be considerate and stop acting like a "HAM"

No more petty arguments or tit for tatty rows

Especially at that time of month when I become a "moody cow"

When I get home after a long day at work and have my usual whine

Just listen well, nod your head and pretend all will be just fine

And when I have my monthly sob while watching "feel good" flicks

Just hold my hand and hug me close, forget the whoopee cushion tricks

A gentle touch is all I need, a soft word, a supportive ear and sometimes

just make my day, say the things I like to hear.
