Poetry: A day at the beach

The Sun beat down, the air was dry

Not a cloud in sight in the clear blue sky

Stretched on the sand, waves lapping at my feet

The beach the only remedy for this merciless heat

Buckets and spades, sand castles by the sea

The sound of happy children laughing and giddy

The smell of suntan oil that fills the airParasols shading happy families from the sun's harsh glare

Sun-blocked noses, beach towels, ball games in the sea sand

The packed picnics, the deck chairs, the ice lollies bought from the ice-cream van

A time for building sandcastles and frolicking in the water' fun

The splashing, the laughter, the swimming, a welcomed relief from the sun

The Beach a holiday Mecca that beckons you and me

Where Pilgrims flock to the seaside to be carefree

With their towels in hand they leave their lives behind

They spend a day on the beach in the glorious sunshine

They take the world off their shoulders, they let their hair down

Stress removed for the day, their frowns turned upside down

Just Sun, Sea and Laughter, unbridled time to unwind

A day at the beach leaves Stress and Worry behind
