It was hot in the summertime in Mississippi,
Then I met this man that I knew.
He was nice, he was alright,
But he confused me, because he chose me.
Glistening yellow skin with a reddish tent,
Strong, firm muscles that I wasn't allowed to see yet.
Now my children look like versions of him.
He was cool, he was nice, he was alright.
Personality like my dad,
A compliment to me,
Because I'm my daddy's baby girl.
This man was observant, resourceful, outgoing,
All positives to my negatives.
He was smart, funny, kind,
All positives to my positives.
He was sweet, he was cool, he was nice, he was alright.
We could talk all night,
About a future that became our past
And the reality of a present that we're now living in.
I fell in love with him,
Because it was hot in the summertime.
I stayed in love with him,
Because it was hot in the wintertime.

In your eyes I see the sun climbing high over the distant hills.
We lie in the flowers, thinking lovers' thoughts, staring

Sunlight on the sand,
Moonlight on the sea,
Unique, beautiful, summer love.

My summer love is my little secret.
Not a soul knew, though we were in plain sight.
The summer sun warming our bodies.
Who can help but be in love in the summer
Where we are all in the park
To keep us warm in winter months
Evolution is everywhere.
by Moeze Lalji
Summer love
Invites you
To the gardens
Of the outside
To walk
You both
Hand in hand
At all the right
Welcoming
Surrounding
Temperatures
