I was sitting at home, just watching TV,
when a story came on I just couldn't believe.
I was drawn to the faces, the cries and the fear,
of American children starving, yes starving right here.
I watched as they begged for a bowl of cooked rice,
with no cares for the extras like sugar and spice.
Their faces were dirty and their clothes full of soil,
the sight of these children just made my blood boil.
For how can this happen, right here in the states?
Are we not the people who can help with their fate?
But some are consumed with great power and wealth,
there's no time to be bothered by a crying child's health.
Some won't sign a contract for a million or two,
for they need four cars and a swimming pool too.
They can walk the red carpet in an expensive designer dress,
why should they get involved with the hungry children mess?
If only we were all equal, as the rich will say we are,
then what are all of these children starving for?
Talent and skills should come with reward,
but not at the expense of a small child's world.
We should all see this story and open our eyes,
for we all have the power to silence their cries
