Poetry: Starving for attention

by Linda Hinkley

Created on: April 11, 2009

He's twelve years old ,but beyond his years

He acts so tough and hides his tears

The days are long in school he tries

But evenings come and he gets lies

His parents urge him to go away

They tell him to go to friends to play

They leave him there, sometimes for days

He cares for them, I don't know why

I think of him and start to cry

If I weren't old I'd take him in

To be a child and loved again
