Great gift ideas for a house-warming party

When a close friend or family member has the joy of owning their first home, it is common to have a housewarming party for them. This is a time that they can show off their new treasure and their loved ones can bring gifts for them to furnish their home beautifully. You probably know the person and their tastes and styles, so buying a gift that they will love should be much easier than some other gifts you may need to buy from time to time. The following items make wonderful housewarming gifts for many different tastes and preferences. Add a personal touch just for the person you are giving to and you will have a truly wonderful and heartfelt gift to present.

Houseplants make a great gift. They not only add color and texture to a room and look nice, but they also keep the air clean. Keep in mind the level of care the plant will need, as well as any potential allergic reactions for the new homeowners.

Gift cards to a local home improvement or gardening center are nice to give at a housewarming party, especially if you aren't quite certain what the homeowners already have and may still need.

Putting together a basket of cleaning supplies makes a nice gift. New homes are actually fun to clean in the beginning! It is never funner, though, than when you have all the best cleaners stocked in an easy-to-carry tote.

Herb gardens are wonderful for those who enjoy cooking. They also provide pleasant aromas and a very homey look. There are many varieties of herb gardens, but the window sill-type are my personal favorite.

Bath baskets are also a nice gift. You can fill them with pretty towel sets, bath pampering products, lotions and creams, bath pillows, loofahs, or anything else the person or couple might like.

Nice salad bowls and other serving dishes make great housewarming offerings, especially if it is a younger person who may not have these items yet.

If the person is a coffee or tea drinker, you can put together very lovely gift boxes with coffee and tea, mugs and cups, spoons, and flavored sweeteners or creamers.

New homes cost money, and plenty of it! A nice card with some cash in it may be just what the homeowner needs right now.

If you want to spend a bit more, a nice outdoor bench or some bird sanctuaries will give a very comfortable and welcoming feel to the yard.

You could have a door knocker custom-made with the homeowner's name engraved in.

There are so many terrific gifts for the new homeowner. You should have no problem coming up with something for even the person who seems to already have everything they need to set up shop. The greatest gifts are those that come from the heart - and that is the easiest to give, as well.
