In our crazy modern world, it is hard to remember to keep a balance in life. Equilibrium is necessary for physical and mental health, and just to keep up the pace required. There are simple and easy ways to keep your life in balance every day.

Count your blessings and find joy in nature and life.

Remember to laugh each day; just because you are grown up, life does not always have to be serious, remember to take time to play too. Laughter is good for your physical health; it increases the heart rate and blood flow, and may improve the immune system's ability to fight infection. Laughing also brings other benefits; it exercises the face and uses up calories.

Hobbies and pastimes are very important in keeping a happy balance; taking time out for yourself to do something that you enjoy is not selfish, if that giving to yourself means that you can then give to others. A little gardening, sewing, bird watching, sport, reading, boating or metal detecting, or whatever it is that you like to do, will give you an oasis of peace and make you an easier person to live with. Relaxation is a necessity, not a luxury, and hobbies help you to relax.

Work is, of course, important but it should not be allowed to dominate your life completely, everyone needs relaxation, rest and exercise. People who do nothing but work are not only out of balance but also are not getting the rest, relaxation and exercise that they need in order to give their very best to their job. The balance between work and family and home life is also extremely important. Family life should not be a poor relation to work; a happy and satisfying family life gives you what you need tso that you can give your best to your work.

Try to walk each day, exercise releases endorphins the body's natural painkillers and anti-depressants. Research has shown that exercise is very important in maintaining mental health as well as physical health. Some doctors now prescribe exercise when treating mild depression. Also a good walk can be great for thinking things through and taking a little time just to be quiet.

A positive mental attitude is another way of keeping a happy balance, a half-full glass is always better than a half empty one.

If you do get stressed, count to ten and take deep breaths. This allows you time to think, lets you relax a little and prevents you making a hasty decision or giving a rash answer.

It is hard to retain balance in your life if you are not taking care of yourself; ensure that you get enough sleep and that you eat a healthy balanced diet. A constant lack of sleep causes both physical and mental problems, including gastric and digestive problems depression and much more.

A happy life is a balanced life. These simple methods can help you keep a necessary balance in your life, so important in the hurly burly of modern life.
