It wasn't easy locking out your heart,
Though something that I felt I had to do,
Aching with love, I found I fell apart,
Although you weren't at fault, you never knew.
How I would watch your smile, the flicker of your eyes,
From distant places, noting every trace,
It helped me sleep, like nature's lullabies,
To see those warm expressions on your face.
I lost the will of life, abandoned my belief,
In all the aspects of my living day,
And lost my soul in tears of mounding grief,
In that sad moment that you went away.
Beside your grave they mourned, though I could not,
A mistress in my heart, I watched your wife,
And knew my foolishness, I'd played my lot,
Though in reality you'd never touched my life.
Dying beside her, never knowing me,
Or that I loved you with my life, my soul,
I cried for that sweet women I would never be,
The one who stood beside you and felt whole.
And so, with one last rose, I say goodbye,
For in my heart and mind, I know that I must start,
To live my life without that dream, I'd try,
Though only if I had locked out your heart.

Every vein within, now filled with hate,
Swimming in my tears, your eyes were the bait.
Your words were cold, just like
It wasn't easy locking out your heart,
Though something that I felt I had to do,
Aching with love, I found I fell apart,
