Broken Wings

You're a shattered ray of sunlight,
Bursting through my broken heart
And now you're sewing back together
What had once been torn apart

You're beauty bathed in sorrow
But you're filling me with joy
You're my today and my tomorrow
You're the defence that I employ

You're perfection but you're damaged
And you don't know who you are
You cannot see what's clear to me

You can't see that you're a star

But you shine so brightly in my dreams
And in my waking hours each day
You illuminate the darkness,
But it's the darkness where you stay

If you could see yourself,
Your world would be like mine,
It would be a place of wonder
Which beauty can't define

Because you're so much more than beautiful
You're so much more than life
You're so much more than everything
And you make me feel alive

You're white magic downed in darkness
And you have no concept of your powers
You don't know the spells you keep me under,
Hour after hour

If words could paint a picture,
I'd paint you the sky
Or I'd paint a bed of roses,
In which we could lie

I'd do anything to let you know
How much you mean to me
Because without you in my life now
I don't know where I would be

You're a fallen angel
From the clouds
You're a perfect song
Without a sound

There is nothing I could say
To show exactly what I mean,
There is no way that I could let you know
How you've made my life a dream

But if you follow me today
And sail with me through the stars
I know the day will surely come
When our love will heal our scars

And if you follow me tomorrow
And wander with me through the night
I can tell you that I know in time
Our broken wings will be alright.
