If the winter blues have extended into spring and you're feeling the need for a pick-me-up, then maybe a change in your humdrum look is in order. One of the best things about changing up your appearance, and style, is that it's all in your hands; you have complete control to reinvent your look and yourself. It doesn't take much, but if you want to turn your look around and maybe even shock your friends, then here are some great ways to start.
You don't have to splurge to change yourself. If your cash is low, try painting your nails a bright shade you would normally avoid, or dying your hair color at home. Another option is to change up your makeup style; adding eye liner or shadow if you normally only do mascara, wear lipstick instead of Chap Stick, etc. You may also want to add accessories to your look if you usually resist them. Sometimes a pair of earrings and a matching necklace can make all the difference.
If your pockets are a little deeper, think about buying a few new pieces for your wardrobe. Don't just get more of the same however, branch out. These new clothes need to reflect the new you, not complement the old. This is also a good time to get a new pocket book or wallet, buy new costume jewelry, change your hair style, or even purchase a new fashion frame for your glasses if you wear them.
Some of the harder ways to reinvent your look involve changing your habits or not so favorable personality traits. If you find yourself being negative or passing judgment on those around you, then try to make it a habit to catch yourself before you speak. Take a moment each morning to center yourself. Reflect on the day ahead and know how you want to appear in the world. With a set goal in mind, you will be more likely to catch yourself if you start to slip back into old habits.
When it comes to really changing yourself and expanding who you are, it may be good to start a new hobby or learn a new skill. Challenge yourself to learn something new that you always wanted to know, or pickup a skill you never knew you had. Learn to knit, build websites, ride horses, or play piano. The options are limitless and all will enhance and create the new you. Once you make up your mind to reinvent your look, the changes you make to bring out the new you will boost your confidence, and that look is timeless.
