Special Delivery
We knew the package
was going to arrive
I thought it'd be easy
just have to sign
all we had to do was
wait till it was time
recieve the fragile cargo
and start building a life
This special delivery
did not come in a van
or on a hand truck
It would've been nice
If the stork knocked on the door
holding his clip board
saying, "name here. initial there"
"Now you folks have a good day."
No our delivery man wore a white coat
He talked about things like aortic dissection
He used words like "anuerysm" and
"Complications"
"Placental abbruption"
No tracking number could've forwarned us
for this package had no back up insurance
you do not recieve a limited 2 year warranty
for perfect health there is no money back guarentee
I had never heard of a pulse ox
and I didn't know what it meant when it beeped 52
All that I knew was that it was bad
She was turning blue
We sat there for hours, days, and weeks
Helpless and waiting as she struggled for her little life
I never saw the tubes, leads, or wires
just her cherubic beauty I admired
My wife and I would just sit there a stare
at this wonderful little package that we wuld have to handle with care

Be gentle as you handle me,
I am so sensitive you see.
I see, I feel, I react,
I live and thrive,
upon contact.

The laws of nature are not bound by our own
It shall retaliate with vengeance and death
Yet we insist that it transform itself
